| Knoxville - May 2001 |
On the road again, heading down to the NSRA's National event with Tim and Carol Johnson. Below Carol is my Corvette in the mirror-like finish of their 38 Chevy! |
Down thru Indiana and Kentucky. A long and winding road, it took about 9 hours to reach Knoxville. |
The 38 Chevy has a name, Maggie, and she sure looked good going thru the mountains of Tennessee. |
Carol named the Corvette, Dot, because when I'd floor-it all Carol and Tim could see was a white-dot off in the distance. |
Lots of Kentucky dirt to get off after we got to Gatlinburg TN... there are few things a car-guy likes more than cleaning his car. HA! |
Any transmission fluid under there? Well..., thats another story! |
Its clear (no pun) where the Smoky Mountains get their name. |
The scenery is beautiful and seemingly endless. |
Acid rain is doing some damage up high and it was a bit chilly up top. The temperatures stayed up the 80's in town all week though. |
We went hiking in the Smoky National park. Carol and Tim found a waterfall to climb under. |
This little guy was busy picking up a free lunch. |
The waterfalls fill the park in Spring. |
Carol and Tim under the waterfall. |
Carol on top of Clingman's Dome, the highest point in the Smoky's. |
Tim and Carol take a rest after beating me up the mountain. |
But I was ready for more. We hiked for two days, though NOT two-days in a row! |
We hiked and we hiked... |
Hey wait for me! There was no holding the Johnson's back. |
Tim and Carol would be sitting around resting by the time I was able to get to the top. |
Whoa! Watch your step, I think I know why they call them falls! |
Knoxville is the home of the NSRA event. This was the 27th year. |
There were thousands of cars there. It took three days to see them all. |
Street Rods, all are driven to the show, if it can't be driven, it can't get in the show. And each car has to be older than 1949. |
Here's one I think my father owned. |
Some were for sale. Hmmmm? |
BEAUTIFUL! BEAUTIFUL! BEAUTIFUL! more pictures at NSRA. |
